School science debate has evolved!

Summary: Laura Parker, a journalist for USA TODAY talks about the simmering topic of if evolution should be taught in school. She starts out by talking about the “Monkey Trial” and now 24 states have seen efforts to change the way evolution is taught…

Commentary: I believe evolution should’t be taught in school and so does Laura and if you teach it you should talk about the creationist point of view also. If you only teach one side of the argument then you are being one-sided and I don’t think that anyone wants to be viewed as a one-sided person. In my personal opion it’s not right to only talk about one side of the argument.

Analysis: As mentioned before Laura is a writer for USA TODAY and she helps to establish logos, which means appealing to logic. She provides statistics and she shows how no one will ever really know the truth behind it all. There is really no reason to get all heated up about a debate that no one will ever know the true answer about.

1. Drinking age- This topic interest me because i think that the drinking age should be 18. The reason that I think this is because there are underage drinkers all the time, when your 18 you can buy tobacco, fight for your country, do all kinds of things but you cant drink when your 18 legally when most people do it anyway????

2. Abortion- I chose this topic because I think it should be illegal because I think that its considered murder. I realize that there are women that get raped but there is another option called ADOPTION. There are lots of people out there that would love to have a child but they physically cant. However, I think that the only instance that it should be okay is if you were raped… then I think that you should have a choice… still let I dont think that its okay.

3. Same Sex Marrige- I dont think that same sex marrige should by legal because it goes against my beliefs… I think that marrige should be between one man and one woman. I realize there are alot of gay couples out there but I just dont see how it is pure. It just dont go along with my beliefs.

Evolution vs. Creationism

Summary: Leon Lynn in this article talks about the hot issue of ” Evolution vs. Creationism”. Did we really evolve from one cell of is there a God out there who created us. Leon Lynn tells us about what evolution is and what creationism is. Leon don’t really take a side in this debate he just states what creationism and what evolution is.

Commentary: I belive from this article in creationism. I believe in there being one God that created the heavens and the earth. I believe that he also created humans as in every other thing on this earth, for example the stars, the animals all in 7 days. I think that if you cant teach creationism in school then you should’t be able to teach evolution in school. I feel it’s teaching a teachers opion and I don’t think that it’s right. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opion and that students shouldn’t be taught what to believe

Analysis: Leon Lynn is a journalist who appeals to logos who appeals to logic. He appeals to logos by all the scientific information that he presents in his article.
